Daily Inspirations by Abraham Sekhar Day 17

We welcome you to the Daily Inspirations Program by Abraham Sekhar. Today we read Genesis chapters 37 and 38 from the Old Testament and Matthew chapter 14:1-12. Matthew chapter 14:1-12 is about what had happened to John the Baptist. John had told Herod that it wasn’t lawful for him to have Herodias. So, Herod had laid hold of John and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife. For Herod’s birthday, the daughter of Herodias danced and it pleased Herod that he promised to her by oath to grant her whatever she asked. Instigated by her mother, she asked for John the Baptist’s head on a platter. Genesis chapter 37 is an account of Joseph’s dreams and experiences. Jacob had 12 sons and he loved Joseph more than all his children. Joseph saw two dreams and shared them with his brothers and father, and his brothers were jealous of him. Joseph’s brothers conspired to kill him and cast him into some pit to see what would become of his dreams. But Reuben delivered Joseph out of their hands and told them that they should not kill Joseph. So, they decided that they would not kill Joseph, and when Joseph had come to his brothers, they stripped him of his tunic and cast him into the pit. The pit was empty; there was no water in it. When the Midianite traders passed by, Joseph’s brothers pulled Joseph up and lifted him out of the pit, and sold him for twenty shekels of silver. The Ishmaelites took Joseph to Egypt. Joseph was taken out of the pit and was sold, which paved the way to a glorious life in Egypt. Be sure that the Lord will fulfill His plans and purposes in our lives. Father, we thank You and praise You. Help us obey Your Word. May we hold on to Your promises and be blessed. May we place our trust in You and look to You for all our needs. You fulfill Your plans and purposes in our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
