We welcome you to the Daily Inspirations Program by Abraham Sekhar.
Today we read Genesis chapters 22 and 23 from the Old Testament and Matthew 8:18-34 from the New Testament.
In Genesis 22, Abraham is commanded to offer Isaac as a burnt offering. Abraham obeyed God in taking Isaac to be offered but God miraculously provided a substitute, a ram, for the burnt offering. So, Abraham took the ram that was caught in a thicket by its horns and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.In Matthew 8:18-34, two different people approached Jesus. Jesus told one of them that he would have to leave everything to follow Him.
Sometimes we are asked to give up things to follow God. This could be a very difficult thing to do. By giving up these things, we can expect God to bless us more. Luke 18:29-30 says, “So He said to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life.’” So, let’s follow God and let’s trust in Him.
Father God, we thank You for this wonderful promise. We will hold on to whatever we receive from You. You have promised us much more, a hundred-fold. Please give us the grace to believe in You and expect more from You when we sacrifice things for the sake of Your kingdom.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
